Tech careers start with the Technology Development Program
Find out how the TDP supports new engineers.
POV: You worked tirelessly to get your engineering degree and a world of opportunity awaits. Now you’re ready to break into the industry and show what you can do. If that sounds like you, you’re ready for our Technology Development Program (TDP) – a robust program to develop the next generation of Capital One engineers. Let’s take a look at the TDP and how it helps new associates kick-start their careers.
The TDP at a glance
The TDP is a 12-month course designed to give new grads a solid foundation to build on. It provides exposure to foundational training and competency development, as well as technical skills and experiential learning. That’s the short story – want to dive in further?
Experience market-leading tech
At Capital One Canada, we’re on a mission to help Canadians succeed with credit, and we’ve worked hard to build a tech stack to meet our bold goals. The TDP gives new Capital One associates hands-on access to our modern tech. Through real business cases, you’ll use cloud computing, AI and machine learning alongside diverse languages like Python, Java/Spring, Swift and Go.
Grow your career on the job
We give our engineers a high degree of autonomy and ownership. They’re trusted with building scalable, resilient software that empowers Canadians to build financial well-being. That’s no small feat, which is why the TDP is the perfect stepping stone between graduation and the responsibilities of an associate engineer.
The TDP program allowed me time to improve and build my network with other like-minded new hires. This was incredibly beneficial for acclimating to the high-performing culture at Capital One.
Join a thriving tech community
Developing your skills is important, and the relationships you build with other associates can forever shape your career. In our Toronto office, you’ll join a welcoming community of innovators, builders and problem-solvers. Through our Business Resource Groups, associate social events, and peer networks, you’ll build lasting relationships that extend far beyond your immediate team.
Feel supported along the way
Some of the benefits of the TDP include:
- Accelerating workplace transitions by teaching associates to adapt and thrive at Capital One
- Developing innovative thinkers with strong analytical problem-solving skills beyond data
- Building strong communicators who effectively tailor messages to any audience
- Growing empathetic, human-centric leaders who lead by example and drive change
- Cultivating supportive communities through strong peer and leadership mentorship networks
At its core, the TDP is about professional growth; experiencing a number of roles through rotation; mentorship with a diverse team of engineers, analysts and project managers (to name a few); and continuous learning with internal and external learning opportunities. When you’re ready to build what’s next, the TDP will be here to help you get started.
