Kick-start your professional growth
How our Early Careers Program gives associates a headstart.
Anticipation and uncertainty – two emotions that can become overwhelming at the start of a young professional’s career. Sound familiar? We know that feeling all too well, which is why we’ve created our Early Careers Program to help our new associates transition to the workplace. It’s a way to help you nurture your skills and career aspirations, so you can do great things.
Supporting the next generation at Capital One
While there are three programs that are very distinct in their disciplines, the common denominator is to support and launch the next generation of leaders through team building, mentorship and foundational training. Some program benefits include:
- Easing workplace transition by helping associates adapt as professionals, while learning how to be successful at Capital One Canada.
- Developing innovative thinkers by continuing to build a solid analytical foundation that will solve problems beyond just pulling data.
- Building stronger communicators by refining communication skills to clearly present content and relay information tailored to different audiences.
- Growing human-centric leaders by empathizing with others and leading by example to influence change within organizations and teams.
- Cultivating supportive communities through a cohesive network of peers and leaders that associates can lean on for support and mentorship.
Because every career path is different, each of our programs offer a unique timeline and agenda catered to helping you grow in your respective field. Let’s take a deeper look at what each program has in store.
Technology Development Program
The Technology Development Program (TDP) is a 12-month course designed to develop the next generation of Capital One engineers. It provides exposure to foundational training and competency development, as well as technical skills and experiential learning through actual business cases.
As a recent graduate of the program, Luc can vouch for its advantages as he advances to a new stage of his career.
“Joining a new company can be stressful and can cause you to lose sight of the bigger picture, so allowing time to improve yourself and build your network with other like minded new hires was incredibly beneficial for me,” says Luc.
Canada Analyst Development Program
The Canada Analyst Development Program (CADP) is a 10 - 12 month course designed for up-and-coming analysts and data scientists in the business, financial, and data streams. It allows associates to apply their strategic and analytical skills to test insights and solve both industry and company-specific challenges in a collaborative space.
For Rawaha, a program alumni, the program’s networking opportunities provided a valuable dimension at an early stage of her professional growth.
“What makes this program unique is that I feel I'm not just working in a small part of the organization. I'm part of a cohort where each person is making an impact in their own line of work, and this program is helping us come together, share learnings and grow professionally,” says Rawaha. “This aspect of community is what I was looking for as I started my career.”
Process Manager Development Program
The Process Manager Development Program (PMDP) is a 12- month course designed for new process managers to develop their project facilitation skills and grow their knowledge of industry best practices in a Capital One business setting. It’s a platform for associates to learn how to navigate the business through analytical training sessions, experience weeks, certification projects and collaborative social events.
For Nawal, the Program Coordinator, the curriculum’s focus on development and hands-on experience are at the heart of what makes the program stand out.
“We maintain a continuous feedback loop, utilizing focus groups and detailed assessments to tailor our training,” says Nawal. “This ensures the curriculum directly addresses our associates' needs, setting them up for success in achieving their career goals.”
