About Capital One

We’ve been helping millions of Canadians for over 20 years by providing them with access to credit. We work hard to put our customers first by providing innovative, smart solutions that make banking effortless.

Working with us.

We know that the way to attract top talent is to create a fun work environment that fosters learning and career development, but we also know that you’ve got a life that’s about more than just work. We’re focused on the quality of your work, not how many hours you spend working. Our approach is designed to foster collaboration and innovation with a focus on agility and teamwork. We’re passionate about associates having fun, and since it’s uncomfortable to do any of those things in a suit and tie, those aren’t required either. We have a business casual dress code because we believe our associates will do their best work when they’re feeling like themselves.

Working as a Risk Consultant.

As part of the Strategic Risk Defense (“SRD”) Team within Capital One’s Canada Card Risk Office, you will be joining a growing team of experienced, collaborative and forward-thinking risk management professionals. You will be responsible for working with senior business partners to identify and consult on potential risks to Capital One.

We aren’t looking for perfection, we are looking for passion.  We value diverse views and seek team members with a variety of backgrounds and experiences. If you are curious and eager to learn new things, enjoy relationship building, have a deep reverence for risk management, and love to have fun at work, this may be the role for you!

  • Primes risk owners to create mitigation commitments that directly address the root causes and impacts of a risk

  • Leverages forums and methodologies outside the risk programs to inform monitoring conversations over risks

  • Seeks to improve monitoring within the team and the business by leveraging new and existing data sources and views (i.e. Key Risk Indicators, dashboards, etc.)

  • Recommends better practices to improve Canada’s overall risk management maturity

  • Instills strong risk management mindset and culture with business partners

  • Inspires business team through communication of risk activity requirements and goals, enabling discretionary risk investments to be made by business teams

  • Develops sustainable Risk Processes, which put a premium on the time of business partners by seeking to minimize business effort while maximizing the value derived by the business

The Basics…What We Need from You!

Associates working in the hybrid model are expected to come into the office 3 days a week across Tuesdays and Thursdays, reserving Mondays and Fridays as company-wide virtual days. As was true before the pandemic, expectations of being in the office will be balanced with personal life flexibility.
