Associates working in the hybrid model are expected to come into the office 3 days a week across Tuesdays and Thursdays, reserving Mondays and Fridays as company-wide virtual days. A day in the life of a Capital One Manager, Software Engineering

You’ll motivate, manage, and inspire a team of software engineers to deliver innovative products.

Here are a few of the ways we’re helping people take control of their credit:

  • Helping customers view and monitor their credit scores with Credit Keeper 

  • Enabling customers to view and edit their Personal Information directly in the Mobile App

  • Providing customers 100% certainty which credit cards they’ll be approved for before they apply, by using Quick Check™

We build our own products and release them with a speed and agility that allows us to get new customer experiences to market quickly. Responsibilities

  • Lead 1-2 team(s) of 5+ engineers with the goal of building digital solutions to humanize the world of credit cards for millions of Canadians

  • Provide feedback, career coaching and participate in talent and succession planning

  • Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside of the box thinking, teamwork, self-organization and diversity

  • Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience and scalability of applications within the Software Studio

  • Bring passion to stay on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technology

Basic Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of experience as a hands-on software engineer preferably using Java/Python or other object-oriented programming languages

  • At least 10 years of experience with application and/or data design, architecture and development

  • At least 3 years of experience leading a team within an agile environment

  • At least 1 year of experience providing direct people leadership including talent development, performance management, team building and succession planning

  • Bachelor’s Degree

​Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering

  • Experience leading Data Engineers

  • Exposure to Public Cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure)

  • Experience leading multiple teams (2-3 teams consisting of 5+ associates)

  • Experience working in a financial/tech industry
