As the Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) Lead, you will report to the Director of Talent and will work closely with the Recruitment Team, Learning and Development Team and HR Consultants. In addition, via our Business Resource Group leaders, you will implement Capital One’s diversity and inclusion strategy as well as drive Employment Equity compliance. We’re seeking candidates whose education, perspectives, and experience enable them to support creating a welcoming and respectful environment that embraces diversity as a dimension of excellence, and promotes a culture of inclusion and belonging.
Diversity & Inclusion
Partner with the Accountable Executive for D&I and the Diversity Council to develop and implement Capital One’s diversity and inclusion strategy.
Realize the goals put forward in Capital One’s existing diversity and inclusion strategy, and also infuse new ideas into future strategies. The strategy will: foster inclusive leadership; unlock collaboration and innovation; eliminate hidden barriers to success; and empower the company to attract, retain and advance top talent from underrepresented backgrounds. The end goal is a highly diverse and fully inclusive organization.
Partner with key HR Partners to develop, review and implement our diversity strategy, three-year employment equity plan, diversity communications as well as monitor and report on progress to senior leadership.
Assist in developing, updating, and facilitating material to instruct employees and people leaders on how to best include, empower and inspire associates – accommodating and appreciating individual differences and leveraging those differences to benefit the company.
Assist in embedding diversity awareness and inclusive practices into people programs and policies to mitigate bias using data-driven approaches.
Support the ongoing coordination of associate-led Business Resource Groups (BRGs) to ensure sustainability, growth, evolution in maturity and recognition of involvement.
Proactively build and manage relationships with key stakeholders across a range of levels, business functions and geographies to ensure alignment and consistency across our businesses.
Employment Equity Compliance
Manage reporting requirements to demonstrate progress against employment equity and D&I-related measures. Partner with the Internal Communications Team, Learning & Development Team, Recruitment Team, HR Risk Team, Compensation Team, and HR Consultants to analyze data, identify trends and manage the development, implementation and monitoring Employment Equity reports, programs, and plans.
Analyze and prepare human rights and employment equity reports, presentations, briefing notes on an ongoing or ad hoc basis, as required.
Maintain current knowledge and materials related to laws, rules, regulations, and best practices for advancing employment equity, and monitor legal developments in this area.
Serve as the primary Canadian contact with the U.S. Capital One Workday team; recommend, monitor, and advocate for enhancements that enable the improved collection and housing of necessary data.
Demonstrated competence in leveraging HR analytics to provide evidence-based guidance and advice
Familiarity with human resources principles and practices
Superior communicator with the ability to foster relationships at all levels and promote cooperation and work collaboratively within and across all sites while promoting an inclusive work environment
Familiarity with Enterprise Workforce Data and Analysis
Minimum of a (3) three-year degree in Human Resources or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
Minimum of (3) three years’ experience in Human Resources, with several years performing diversity and inclusion work
Minimum of (3-5) three to five years’ experience in designing and implementing diversity and inclusion programs
Minimum of (3-5) three to five years’ experience on diversity and inclusion best practices and programs
Minimum of (3-5) three to five years’ experience with Employment Equity analyses, reporting, and planning, and incorporating Diversity & Inclusion functions
Bilingualism an asset
