In a competition that recognizes industry leaders offering exceptional places to work, it’s an honour to be given this award for the third year in a row. But what brings the best of the best to Capital One Canada? We believe it’s inclusive of our mission and our dedication to our associates.
For Maria, a Director of Software Engineering, it was these two factors that helped her seal the deal when she chose Capital One Canada a year ago. “Toronto’s tech field has so many opportunities. Having a mission that I could connect with really makes a company stand out. Canada is a welcoming place with people coming from all over. Helping them succeed with credit feels pretty good.”
Beyond our commitment to “changing banking for good,” we’re also committed to developing our associates by driving innovation and empowering our teams to do great things. “The culture of learning and development at Capital One Canada is unique,” says Maria. “Projects that are unlikely to receive the go-ahead at other places are taken on here.”
Canada’s Top Employers for Young People
An award given to employers who help new grads transition from school to work, and who offer specialized programs to jumpstart their careers – this is another title we’re proud to hold for a third year. In a tech-driven market where young professionals have plenty of options, we set ourselves apart through helping our new associates discover their career path, learn through mentorships and continue growing through development programs.
Our Early Careers Program helps to challenge, elevate and develop our new associates within their respective fields, and also allows them to trial different jobs within their program. Becca Mintz, Vice President and Head of Credit and Data says, “Young associates are looking for the opportunity to explore multiple paths. It’s only through being in a role that you learn what lights that fire, so the opportunity to try various things is beneficial.”
Providing our associates with the opportunity to try different paths allows them to narrow in on a speciality they’re passionate about. We then offer opportunities to continue learning and growing in their career. Thomas, an intern turned Strategy Analyst said, “Capital One will spend money to help you pursue additional education and learning.” He adds, “They’re hugely supportive of everyone’s growth and making sure you’re working on projects you find interesting.”
When our associates are excited about the work, our mission and growing with us, anything is possible. It’s our investment into each and every one of our associates that brought us here today with two inspiring wins, three years in a row.
