About the Team
This role sits within the Office of the President, a group of teams that support and accelerate Capital One Canada’s growth by enabling clear priorities, strong alignment, and effective execution across the business. The Office of the President partners closely with senior leadership to help turn strategy into action and ensure the organization is focused on what matters most.
Internal Communications and Associate Experience is a core team within the Office of the President. The team tells the Capital One Canada story from the inside out - connecting associates to our mission, vision, and strategy, and reinforcing the purpose behind the work we do every day. Through an always-on engagement roadmap, internal communications, and thoughtfully designed associate experiences, the team fosters a culture where associates feel informed, inspired, and empowered to thrive. Working in close partnership with teams across the business, Internal Communications and Associate experience helps build belief in our strategy and brings our “why” to life.
About the Role
This is a 12 months contract role.
The Office of the President team within Internal Communications & Associate Experience is looking for an energetic, strategic, and execution-oriented communications professional to join the team. This role plays a critical part in shaping and delivering internal communications that connect associates to Capital One Canada’s purpose, priorities, and culture, while helping create meaningful, engaging associate experiences.
As a Principal Associate, Internal Communications & Associate Experience, you will be a key player on the Office of the President team—partnering closely with senior leaders, HR, and cross-functional teams to translate big ideas into clear, compelling communications. You’ll bring structure to complexity, move seamlessly from strategy to execution, and help ensure our communications reinforce what it means to be a market-disrupting team.
This role requires strong project management skills, exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, and the confidence to operate in a fast-paced, highly matrixed environment.
Your Responsibilities:
In this role, you will serve as a key contributor on the Office of the President team, supporting Internal Communications & Associate Experience. You’ll help shape and deliver innovative communications strategies that drive engagement, reinforce culture, and build pride in our people. Leveraging your expertise in communications strategy, stakeholder management, and execution, you’ll collaborate across the business to deliver meaningful impact for associates and senior leaders alike.
Develop and execute internal communications strategies that enhance associate engagement and connect the dots between Capital One Canada’s purpose, values, business strategy, and priorities
Partner with senior leadership, HR, Business Resource Groups (BRGs), and other teams and stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver high-impact communications
Translate complex, big-picture intent into clear, plain-language resources so associates understand the business, customers, performance, and how their work contributes
Deliver a wide range of corporate communications, including:
Company-wide announcements
Department and enterprise town halls
Video/storytelling content
Newsletters, intranet articles, and Slack communications
Serve as a core member of the Mission Week (Capital One Canada’s annual offsite focused on strategy and culture) team, helping deliver timely, relevant communications that promote engagement and support associates throughout the experience
Lead communication recommendations for key initiatives, including upcoming benefits programs
Provide executive communications support for senior leaders, including talking points, presentations, and strategic messaging
Assist in the preparation of proposals and presentations, incorporating research, insights, and analysis
Collaborate with communications partners across Corporate Communications and the business to ensure alignment, consistency, and maximum impact
Manage post-communication activities, including surveys, recaps, insights, and recognition of contributions
Monitor analytics aligned to established OKRs, develop reporting, and provide insights to continuously improve effectiveness
Stay informed on industry trends, emerging tools, and best practices to bring fresh, innovative thinking to internal communications
Act as a culture carrier—living our values, taking a team-first mindset, and helping create the best possible associate experience
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in internal communications, corporate communications, or a related field
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Strong strategic thinking combined with an ability to execute
Proven organizational and prioritization skills
Ability to manage a broad and diverse stakeholder group
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, or equivalent education and experience
Proven ability to prioritize effectively and manage multiple workstreams in a fast-moving environment
Strong project management skills with an action-oriented mindset and a focus on excellent execution
Ability to navigate a matrixed organization and build strong, collaborative relationships across teams and functions
Credibility as a trusted advisor with strong storytelling and influence capabilities
