Capital One is looking for an energetic, creative and results-driven communications professional with experience in driving integrated, multi-dimensional, consumer-facing programs across channels. This role will support Capital One Canada’s branded card business. This position requires strong written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated experience and expertise in driving integrated, multichannel communications and a solid understanding of the Canadian media landscape.
Exhibit a deep understanding of and ability to communicate the benefits, features and key insights related to branded card products and offerings
Work closely and engage with key stakeholders - primarily within the Brand function - to build trusted relationships
Identify themes, topics and content that will resonate with target audiences and meet strategic business objectives
Leverage data and insights to inform narratives and influence programming
Contribute to the overall marketing strategy for the business
Understand, identify and effectively navigate potential risks and sensitivities
Lead integrated communications strategies, including paid, earned, shared and owned media
Build and enhance mutually beneficial relationships among target media and influencers
Identify news hooks and agile PR opportunities that support business objectives
Coordinate outreach, leveraging key contacts and managing relationships to ensure media coverage across a range of media verticals
Draft and lead the development of effective communications materials to include strategic plans, press releases, media alerts, remarks, social media content and other communications documents for various audiences
Oversee flawless media engagement through comprehensive spokesperson prep, on the ground support, and follow-up
Identify and establish relationships with third-party influencers that can contribute to and amplify our content
Build powerful, dynamic, influencer content that can be adapted and shared across a variety of internal and external channels
Partner and collaborate with Corporate Communications team members to ensure well-managed (consistent, streamlined, value-driven and strategic wherever possible and appropriate) media and influencer engagement
Effectively manage agency(s) and vendors to support programming and media engagement
Assess risks, issues and potential communications problems and provide proactive solutions
Embrace research, measurement and analytical thinking as a means to drive Impact
Ensure all work is executed through a lens of strategic impact and measurement, leveraging the latest tools and technology to showcase how communications is driving business outcomes, brand awareness and engagement
Support Capital One enterprise communications
Connect the dots across Canada Card PR and the broader Corporate Communications team to drive efficiencies and create value for our business partners
Identify ways to enhance Capital One’s reputation, ensuring all efforts reflect and bolster the enterprise narrative
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Proven ability to work effectively with multiple constituents, including peers, executive management, senior management, bringing simplicity to complex subject matters
Creative, integrative problem-solving and structured thinking
Strong understanding of and proven track record supporting brand PR efforts across the paid/earned/shared/owned spectrum
Deeply rooted understanding of the public relations industry, and related knowledge of key trade publications, genre publications, and local/national outlets
Role of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in driving brand promise
Self-motivated with strong organizational skills, analytical talent and attention to detail
Excellent presentation and persuasion skills
Strong project management skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Passion to work as part of a highly collaborative culture, and stay calm under intense pressure to manage rapidly changing priorities
At least 7 years of public relations experience, including consumer media and influencer relations
Bilingual (English and French) capabilities - verbal and written
Ability to submit 1 to 2 writing samples upon request
2-3 years of digital marketing experience with a focus on content development, distribution and analytics
Deep understanding and expertise in building and executing integrated marketing campaigns to achieve measurable results based on business objectives
Experience working, partnering with and influencing multiple constituents and stakeholders (internal and external), including senior executives
Combination of agency and in-house experience
