Head of Growth Marketing - Customer Acquisition

As the leader of our Customer Acquisitions Marketing team you will be responsible for defining and executing our marketing and website strategy to maximize the number of new customers, we welcome to Capital One. Responsibilities include defining the marketing and website strategy, managing the end to end analysis and execution of the strategy, and partnering internally to launch new products and experiences. Capital One Canada runs a fully insourced marketing and web team that consists of analysts, ad operations, data scientists, brand strategists, process and product managers. The ideal candidate will have experience leading a cross functional team, digital marketing experience, and a proven track record of measurably and profitably growing a business through marketing. The role consists of 2 managers and a total of 10 associates with a direct reporting relationship, as well as a fully dedicated software and data science team.


Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Acquisition Marketing: The Head of Customer Acquisitions Marketing is an exciting role, leading the charge to grow. The ideal candidate will help maximize the return of our acquisitions marketing budget leveraging team that is fully insourced, and has end to end ownership of the marketing and web strategy. He/she will regularly communicate to senior leaders on key KPIs, overall marketing performance and the 1-3 year roadmap. In addition, the ideal candidate will partner with internal teams to launch new products and support building our Brand in Canada.

Business Ownership: We believe the best leaders do their best work without being micro-managed. The ideal candidate will have an ownership mindset, and P&L accountability for a significant marketing budget. Lead strategic growth planning with a 1-3 year horizon. He/she will work with their peers across the customer acquisitions team to help launch new products and improve the customer experience. He/she should be able to drive and execute an agenda in an uncertain and fluid environment.

The ideal candidate will have a track record of developing a high performing and cross functional team of analysts, marketing product and process associates.  Experience coaching and mentoring associates throughout the organization with a goal of developing and retaining top talent. He/she should foster innovation, drive critical decisions, hold business partners accountable, and be able to continuously deliver results.

Candidates will have the following:

  • A deep understanding of digital marketing, website optimization and running a large-scale acquisition marketing team.
  • Proven track record of achieving year over year growth in a B2C business
  • High level of intellectual curiosity and are comfortable with ambiguity
  • Well organized, able to multi-task, able to prioritize with minimal direction
  • Can collaboratively drive teams and stakeholders with disparate goals
  • Communication skills, be able to present to executive management often and in a compelling manner on key marketing KPIs and results

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
  • At least 5 years of acquisition marketing experience
  • At least 3 years of leading a cross functional team of 7+ direct reports

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 + years of acquisition marketing experience
  • 3+ years of leading a cross functional team of 7+ direct reports
  • 3+ years of experience working in an Agile environment
  • 3+ years of experience translating marketing strategy and analysis into consumer products
